Govt may consider purchasing cement from other states: Anbazhagan

Chennai, Nov 12 : Tamil Nadu Finance Minister K Anbazhagan today told the state Assembly that the government might consider purchasing cement from other states or import it from abroad to control the rise in prices of cement.

Replying to Mr V Sivapunniyam (CPI) in the state Assembly, he said the government was making all efforts to reduce the price of cement.

Mr Anbazhagan referred to the recent discussions Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had with cement manufacturers who had agreed to reduce the price.

With a view to further reducing the price, the government might consider purchasing it from other states or import it.
