Action against Raja if proved guilty: Karunanidhi

Chennai, Dec 8 : Asserting that former Telecom Minister A Raja has done no wrong in the 2G spectrum allocation, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi today said the party would not hesitate to take action agianst him, if he was proved guilty.
Talking to newspersons at his Gopalapuram Residence here, he said, "the DMK believes that Mr Raja has done no wrong (in the 2G spectrum allocation). The party is not willing to let him down, till the charges are proved." Reacting to the CBI raids at 14 places of Mr Raja's relatives and friends in Delhi and Tamil Nadu, Mr Karunanidhi said the DMK would definitely take action against him, if he was proved guilty.

"The DMK would not be kind and show any consideration in taking action, if Mr Raja is proved guilty," he said.

Mr Raja, who had resigned as Telecom Minister, was a prominent DMK Leader. He got elected to the Lok Sabha from Nilgiris in the state.

On Opposition demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G spectrum scam, Mr Karunanidhi, referring to the remarks made by the Supreme Court, said the DMK was ready to accept a JPC probe, if the terms of reference extended to cover the spectrum allocation taken place during the previous BJP regime.
