DMK allots 31 seats to PMK plus an Rajya Sabha seat for assembly polls

Chennai, Feb 10 : A day after the meeting of Anbumani Ramadoss, the former Union Health Minister and son of PMK founder-president S Ramadoss, with AICC President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi put the PMK back in DMK-Congress led alliance, DMK supremo M Karunanidhi today allotted 31 seats to it for the forthcoming elections to the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

The allocation of seats to the PMK, besides a Rajya Sabha seat, came swiftly at a meeting between Dr Ramadoss and Mr Karunanidhi at the latter's Gopalapuram residence this morning, as part of the agreement.

The discussions lasted more than an hour.

Talking to newspersons, Dr Ramadoss said, ''We are satisfied with the allotment of seats though the number is the same that the DMK had given us in the 2006 Assembly elections.'' Dr Ramadoss also predicted that the DMK-Congress-PMK-VCK combine would ''definitely emerge victorious'' in the Assembly elections.
