CBI tailoring 2G probe to coincide with Tamil Nadu poll: Arun Jaitley

Chennai, Apr 4 : The BJP today alleged the CBI, which had filed its charge sheets 'in one of the biggest and worst scams in the allocation of 2G spectrum,' had 'tailored' its investigation timetable keeping in the mind the polling date in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing a news conference here before hitting the campaign trail for the April 13 Assembly Elections, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said the first indications of the charge sheet in the scam, involving tainted Telecom Minister A Raja, were extremely disturbing.

Citing three reasons for it, he said ''the first was the CBI has filed the charge sheet keeping in mind the polling dates in Tamil Nadu.'' He said one of the serious matters being probed by the CBI related to pecuniary benefits from allocation of 2G licenses to the publication company of the DMK Party (Kalaignar TV).

Though every detail of it has come in the media, that part of the charge sheet has been held up.

''Perhaps, they (the Congress-led UPA) are waiting for polling to get over so that its ally, the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu, did not get disturbed further,'' he claimed.
