“Defeat of DMK-Congress alliance will have impact on national politics”

Sitaram YechuryThe defeat of the corrupt DMK-Congress alliance in Tamil Nadu will have an impact on national politics as the combine was hand-in-glove in the 2G scam, denied improvement of educational facilities to people and failed to eliminate hunger in the country, Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury said here on Monday.

Campaigning in support of CPI (M) candidate and sitting MLA. P. Dillibabu at Harur and addressing a public meeting at Karimangalam in Dharmapuri district in support of former minister and AIADMK candidate in Palacode constituency K.P. Anbalagan, he urged people to elect the AIADMK-led front candidates headed by former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa to weed out corruption.

“People should vote for AIADMK-led front not only to weed out corruption but also to bring in a desirable change at the Centre by sending corrupt partners the DMK and the Congress home,” he said.

“Though our nation had massive human and natural resources, we could not achieve what we desired and bring a change owing to unprecedented corruption in all spheres,” he said. “We have sufficient funds. But, scams and looters prevented our growth and development. So throwing the DMK out of power is one way to stop mega corruption to make our nation powerful and strong,” Mr. Yechury asserted. He thanked Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for giving free colour televisions to people so that they could understand the 2G scam better.
