DMK planning violence during Sonia Gandhi's poll rally: Jayalalithaa

Madurai, Apr 5: Opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary J Jayalalithaa alleged that the ruling DMK had hatched a conspiracy to unleash violence in an election rally to be addressed by AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi at Chennai.

Addressing an election campaign at K Pudur here last night, Ms J Jayalalithaa appealed to the Election Commission of India to take serious note of the information which she had gathered from Intelligence inputs about the 'ruling party’s plot.' By doing so, the DMK was planning to gain political mileage by putting the blame on the AIADMK.

On the petrol bomb attack on the house of an AIADMK functionary at Jaihindapuram in Madurai City on Sunday night, she said the attack was carried out by the DMK men for complaining to the police about money distribution by DMK men.

''If the AIADMK is voted to power, I will put an end to the violent activities in Madurai,'' she added.

Ms Gandhi is to address an election rally at Chennai today in which DMK President M Karunanidhi and leaders of alliance parties would participate.
